CHARACTERCharacter Name: Ichigo Kurosaki
Character Age: 17
Canon: Bleach
Canon Point: Post-timeskip, from just before the Fullbring arc characters arrive on the scene. No plot's started up yet.
History: THIS SERIES HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR FIFTEEN YEARS. Oh, um, just so we're clear, I'm going with manga canon, not anime canon.
bount arc what bount arc it never happenedPersonality: On the surface, Ichigo Kurosaki is a loudmouthed, hot-tempered punk. His hair color is flashy, his face is set in a permanent scowl, and he gets into fights in and out of school. He doesn't belong to any after-school clubs (a fact almost as unusual as his hair color) and is abrasive and rude even to his friends. He breaks rules he doesn't respect and works hard to craft an image that says "I don't care what you think." Paradoxical, yes. But that's the persona Ichigo has settled into, and he's made his peace with the fact that he doesn't blend in.
However, appearances are deceiving, and below the prickly surface, Ichigo's a smart kid and a fast learner. In school, he studies hard because the teachers give him less of a hard time about his temper and his hair when he gets good grades, and in fights, though he generally relies on instinct and intuition, he's not stupid. He's no master tactician, but he's good at figuring out weak points and strategies on the fly. He cares about the people around him a lot more than he lets on, and though he might not act like it, Ichigo would go out of his way to help someone who needed it in a heartbeat, even a stranger if it were serious. He loves his family and friends deeply. For the ones who can fight with him, he's a strong and loyal ally. For the ones who can't, Ichigo is a protector, someone who will do anything to keep them safe. He's courageous and strong-willed, and when he puts his mind to it, there's very little he can't do.
Unfortunately, when he fails in a big way or finds himself unable to protect his loved ones, Ichigo goes into a rut of self-doubt, which ends up a vicious cycle because the main reason why he can pull off the superhuman stunts he does is that he believes he can. He does his best to shut others out during these times, but he can be shaken out of it with tough love. When Ichigo is at his best, he's confident and surprisingly emotionally perceptive, able to get a read on what makes people tick with remarkable speed, especially if he's fighting them. He's pretty good at finding exactly the right thing to say to cheer someone up.
Though he takes himself pretty seriously, the world doesn't always do him the same favor. He never
means to be goofy, but sometimes, he responds to things in ways that make sense to him but come off as kind of silly. He also makes fun of people around him, though it's much friendlier teasing if he's close to the person in question. The universe has a habit of taking Ichigo's dignity from him, and he takes others' dignity right back.
Currently, Ichigo is deeply unhappy with the fact that he doesn't have his superpowers anymore. He's acting pretty normal, since it's been 17 months since he lost them, but deep down, he's not over it. It feels like he's missing a part of himself, and he feels like he's no longer able to fight to protect the people he cares about. A very strong drive for him has been blocked off, and he's dealing with it as best he can. It means he has more moments of melancholy than usual, especially when he's reminded of the things he used to be able to do.
Inventory: The only truly
unusual thing is a substitute shinigami badge. Under normal circumstances, it alerts him when hollows are nearby, normal people can't see it, and he can use it to remove his own soul from his body. Right now, though, it's an ordinary piece of wood. Other than that, it's normal teenage stuff: wallet, clothes, cheap phone, bag of textbooks/schoolwork in Japanese, you know.
Abilities: this is freaking ridiculous.I'll try to give you a short version.
Normal human abilities:-a physical body in top shape with fantastic reflexes--nothing superhuman, but absolutely peak condition
-extensive swordfighting experience on top of skill in hand-to-hand martial arts
-analyzing his opponents' techniques and devising a winning strategy in response
-picking up new things quickly if he has the chance to learn them kinesthetically/learn-by-doing
-good study habits (formerly. They've dropped a bit.)
-a thorough grounding in basic first aid, thanks to his family's clinic
The above are the only abilities Ichigo has access to at his current canon point.
If When he gets his powers back, he'll be able to do a whole bunch of stuff.
High-spiritual-energy human abilities:-seeing/hearing/speaking to/channeling ghosts
-sensing/tracking other living beings based on their spiritual energy
-accidentally activating other humans' latent powers if they spend enough time around him when he's out of his body (unlikely to come up in-game)
-accidentally attracting the attention of things that eat spiritual enery. no seriously it's like he's got a flashing sign over his head that says I'M DELICIOUS EAT ME.
Shinigami abilities:-a sword made of spiritual energy that is strong or weak depending on how much energy is in it (or two swords, depending on the canon point)
-crescent-shaped (or cross-shaped in later canon) ranged energy attacks out of that sword (of varying strengths, but at this point if he gets his powers back they can level blocks. This is a power I fully plan to cap.)
-ultrafast fighting with an ultra-durable body made of spirit energy (hence why it's so tough: Ichigo has spirit energy to spare)
-walking on condensed spirit energy so basically he can stand in the sky
-moving super super super fast, even over large distances, using something called flash-stepping
-
bankai, which basically just makes Ichigo faster and stronger in a different outfit and makes his crescent-shaped laser beams black
Hollow abilities:-being even faster and stronger (are we seeing a trend here)
-
he can shoot laser beams out of his mouth no really he can't actually do that, but he can add...the hollow laser beam power...to his crescent-shaped energy attack...... #bleach
-apparently if he gets hurt enough and Orihime cries enough there's the danger of him going into an unconscious ultraviolent state, but that hasn't happened since the Hueco Mundo arc and it's unlikely to come up
Quincy abilities (from a later canon point):-toughening up his skin with something called
blut vene, basically pumping soul energy into his blood
-tbd??
He also had
another set of powers from the Fullbring Arc but he lost those and they don't matter; I don't anticipate playing him from a canon point where he has them. They were basically the same as his shinigami powers anyway; his sword just wound up a different shape. And it was a different shape even after he lost them? I guess it's so they can sell more merchandise, but basically, Ichigo's fullbring lets him use his emotional bond with his substitute shinigami badge to create a sword and cover his physical body in bone-armor. It's kind of silly-looking, but not as silly-looking as his weird one-eye one-horn thing he's got going on right now does.
In very recent canon, he's been able to take a
really goofy-looking form that involves one horn and one black eye and an oil spill down the side of his face that's like a balancing of his shinigami-hollow-quincy powers, but we don't know a whole lot about it yet. If it becomes relevant in a canon update, I'll detail it.
Flaws: Hell, man, where do I begin? He's got a freaking hollow-sword living in his soul that craves battle and enjoys fighting on a primal level. Ichigo's superego compels him to find a reason to fight - a difference to make, a person to protect, a goal - but his id and the sword-and-hollow part of his soul just tell him to
fight, fight to get stronger, get stronger to fight. Losing sight of his goals in the heat of a fight doesn't happen often, but it's happened. Ichigo cares about fighting fair and winning on his own terms to a fault, and he can also be
very vengeful, taking an eye for an eye or frightening an enemy in the way the enemy is used to frightening others.
Ichigo can be goaded into a stupid fight if you know what buttons to push. He also has a nasty habit of biting off more than he can chew -- he'll fight anyone he thinks needs to be fought, no matter how out-of-his-league they are. And, if he feels that shutting his friends out and keeping them in the dark is the best way to protect them, Ichigo will do it, cutting himself off from vital sources of support. Oh, and speaking of secrets Ichigo keeps, a big one is that he blamed himself for his mother's death for a long time. His mother and his guilt are definitely emotional weaknesses that can be exploited. He tends to smile and act cheerful when he's upset and wants to cover it up, which is weird and counter-intuitive, but if you know him well, you know when he's blowing you off. Finally, on a lighter note, Ichigo can't remember names or faces worth a damn.
SAMPLESAction Log Sample: Test drive threads! I hope that's enough.
